Presidents’ Day Weekend in Los Angeles and Beyond: Best Ways to Spend Your Day Off
by Jessica Griffiths on February 17, 2012California is a great place to live; there’s never a shortage of things to do or places to go. That’s why we love our days off. Presidents’ Day is Monday, making it a three day weekend for many people working here in Los Angeles and a great excuse to get out (of town) and have some fun.
No matter what mood you find yourself in on Monday (though if you’re off of work, what could really be bothering you?), there is something for everyone. There’s an endless amount of exciting outings you could take and really make your day off count.
Here are just a few suggestions on how to make the most of your Presidents’ Day:
- Staycation: Stay home and make the long weekend count. Run some errands, get a head-start on spring cleaning and, most importantly, have fun.
- A Weekend Retreat: With any three day weekend, the opportunities for escape are vast. Here in California there are many exciting retreats only a few hours drive away. Why not spend the weekend in Palm Springs or San Diego? Relax, unwind and soak up the California sun.
- Snow Adventure: Have you hit the slopes yet this season? Make sure you get to the mountains before the snow melts and with Big Bear only a couple hours away and Mammoth a few hours more, it’s easy to bundle up and take advantage of the great snow conditions and an extra day to enjoy them!
- Fly Away: Last minute travel is a breeze with amazing airlines like JetBlue and Virgin America. You can grab a flight out and enjoy the long weekend somewhere like San Francisco for a great price.
- Serenity, anyone?: Why not take the time off to really do some spiritual healing. Connect with nature by going on a hike or visiting Joshua Tree or any of the gorgeous nature filled escapes California has to offer. Check out of your busy routine, check in with yourself.
No matter how you choose to spend Presidents’ Day, make sure you make the most of it – whatever that looks like for you. For those of you who are not working, be sure to enjoy the time off and steal some moments for reflection on your life and the year ahead… if only a few. For those
