Get Down and Dirty at the LA Mud Run!
Where else can you run in a 5K race, burn off some of those extra summer calories and splash around with hundreds of people in a course of obstacles and … MUD? The LA Mud Run in Pasadena is right around the corner!
Today is the last day of school for the kids and in celebration, my friend and fellow Westwood Charter parent, Rachel Cadden and I have decided to get muddy! We just signed up for a great event called the LA Mud Run. It is on the 21st of August and our team of 4 is called Rok Bottom – this is truly a tour de mud! I actually committed to this prior to looking at the information and the course and now realize that not only is this a run but also involves wading, jumping, balancing and climbing through an intense obstacle course. I know people train for the marathon and now I need to find out if this also involves training because if so, I think it is my best interest to start now! Also, costumes are encouraged so if anyone has any fabulous ideas about what kind of costume may hold up in the mud and not fall apart…I am open to suggestions…may Rok Bottom make it to the finish line!!

The Eco Mud Run Tour is making it’s next stop in Los Angeles on August 21, 2010 at the Pasadena Rose Bowl. This event will host not only the run, but an Eco Fest of live entertainment, plenty of food from many vendors, a Beer Garden, contest giveaways throughout the day.
The Details:
5K Eco Mud Run
Choose your start time: Early birds – 9:00am or Sleep in a Bit Event – 10:30am
Ages 13 & over
Race as individual or part of a 4-person team
Unique awards to top finishers
Entry fees per person:
$45 from 3 months to 1 month prior to event
$50 from 1 month prior to week prior to event
$55 on site entry fee (if available)
Eco Kids Fun Mud Run
11:45am start for this fun event
Ages 12 & under (1 mile run for 8-12 year olds, 1/2 mile run for 4-7 year olds)
$15 entry fee
Awards and Results of the Run:
Unique awards will be given to the top 3 overall finishers as well as the top 3 in each division. Results and photos will be posted on event day here at www.lamudrun.com

Don’t forget to wear your tight running shoes (Hint: duct tape them to you feet to avoid loosing them), a change of clothes, your BEST costume and some cash for the vendors.
