Going to the Movies – It Can Be a Landmark Experience!

I love going to the movies although most of the ones that I have seen recently have been rated G or maybe PG depending on which of my children I have in tow.  It used to be that a movie was a movie and with it went the decision on the type of 86 ounce soft drink you wanted in that colossal cup, butter or no butter on your popcorn and deciding if were into sour or sweet that day aka Sour Patch Kids or Red Vines.

When I first walked into The Landmark Theatre on Pico I was expecting to have to make these same decisions and was pleasantly surprised to find an amazing collection of beautiful goodies to eat and drink but also a showcasing of all types of films from foreign to independent to blockbusters to 3-D.  The Landmark is a movie experience – it is sophisticated, unique and also the nation’s largest theater chain dedicated to exhibiting and marketing independent film.

The Landmark offers quality and unique amenities including digital projection, a selection of gourmet concession items, in-theater sales of DVDs, books and CDs and it caters to an innovative movie-goer. I never knew there was such a thing as an innovative movie-goer but I am now happy to be one and also happy that it is right in my backyard in Westwood.  To think that on any given day I can go sit on a loveseat or comfy couch in what they call a “screening  lounge” and enjoy a cappuccino and gourmet chocolate is decadent.
